Entry Requirements

Asia e University is committed to a fair admissions process and we accept a wide range of qualifications. The information on this page gives an overview of the general entry requirements for all our programmes, from Foundation Studies to Doctorate Programmes. Do note that the following entry requirements are applicable for both Malaysian and International students

English Language Competency Requirements

English Language Competency Requirement for International Students

(1)  All International students who intend to pursue a programme at Diploma, Bachelor, Master or Doctorate level in Malaysia are required to fulfil the academic entry requirements for the programme concerned as well as the English Language Competency Requirement as follows:

  • International English Language Testing System 5.0 / Common European Framework of Reference for Languages B1 (IELTS 5.0 / CEFR B1), or
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper Based Test 410 – 413 (TOEFL PBT 410 – 413), or
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test 34 (TOEFL IBT 34), or
  • Cambridge English: Advance 160 (CAE 160), or
  • Cambridge English: Proficiency 180 (CPE 180), or
  • Pearson Test of English 36 (PTE 36), or
  • Malaysian University English Test Band 3 (MUET Band 3)

(2)  These students who meet the academic entry requirements will be provided with conditional offers initially to enable them to attend the English Language Preparatory Course for a period not exceeding 12 months.

(3)  Notwithstanding the above, any international student from countries using English as an official medium of instruction or from an academic institution using English as a medium of instruction, shall normally be exempted from the above requirement.

(4)  In addition, any international student who is undertaking a research programme where the language for thesis/dissertation submission approved by the University is in a language other than English (eg Arabic, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin), shall normally be exempted from the English Language requirement.

(5)  Failure to achieve the English Language Competency Requirement within the period provided will result in the students being refused admission into the academic programme.

(6)    Students who have achieved the English Language Competency Requirement within the period provided will be allowed to enrol into the academic programme.

(7)    Students who have not achieved the English Language Competency Requirement within the period provided will be required to return to their country of origin. However, they will be allowed to reapply for consideration under the same process as above.

Bachelor Entry Requirements

Bachelor Programme

A candidate may be admitted into the degree programme through:

a) Regular Entry

This applies to candidates who passes the following:

  • A minimum of 2 principles in STPM or its equivalent qualification.

  • Approved/accredited Diploma by Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

  • Other qualifications recognised by Senate of the University.

b) APEL Entry

Masters Entry Requirements

A candidate may be admitted into the Master programme through:

Regular Entry

  • A Bachelor’s degree or
  • Other qualifications recognised by Senate of the University.

APEL Entry

Doctorate Entry Requirements

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

A candidate may be admitted into the DBA programme if he possesses:

  • A Master’s degree recognised by Senate of the University; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by Senate of the University.
  • The Senate may, from time to time, require a candidate to enroll and/or pass/audit prerequisite courses before he/she is allowed to proceed with the DBA programme.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

A candidate may be admitted into the PhD programme if he possesses:

  • A Master’s degree recognised by the Senate of the University; or
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Senate of the University.
  • The Senate may, from time to time, require a candidate to enroll and/or pass/audit prerequisite courses before he/she is allowed to proceed with the PhD programme.
