The AeU Bachelor of Education (Teaching Islamic Studies in Primary School) with Honours is a one-of-a-kind programme in education that allows professional working adults and in-service teachers to attain on-the-job training while working towards a degree. The aim of this programme is to strengthen and enrich knowledge in Islamic Studies at a primary school level. The use of technology through online learning and blended learning as the main medium in the teaching and learning process of this programme will help stimulate the teachers intellect and increase their professionalism in school.

Normal Entry:

  • STPM / 'A' Level or equivalent qualifications with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in two (2) subjects; OR
  • STAM (Grade Jayyid); OR
  • UEC with at least Grade B in five (5) subjects; OR
  • A Matriculation / Foundation Programme from any IPTA / IPTS / Institution authorised to offer foundation programmes with CGPA 2.00; OR
  • A Diploma in Creative Multimedia with at least CGPA 2.50 (Candidates with CGPA less than 2.50 but above 2.00 can be admitted subject to a strict internal assessment process); OR
  • Other qualifications recognised

English Language Competency Requirement (for International Students):

  • Minimum score for TOEFL PBT 410-433/ TOEFL IBT 34-40 OR Minimum score of 5.0 for IELTS OR Pearson Test of English PTE 36 OR Cambridge English: Advance (CAE) 160 OR Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) 180 OR Malaysian University English Test (MUET Band 3).
  • Any international student from countries using English as an official medium of instruction or from an academic institution using English as a medium of instruction, shall normally be exempted from the above requirement.

Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum 21 years of age in the year of application;
  • Possess relevant work experience
  • Passed an APEL assessment

  • Demonstrate knowledge and practical skills in teaching Islamic subjects with a focus on primary curriculum and instructional planning, assessment and the using of technologies and media for teaching and learning.
  • Exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills including both written and verbal abilities relevant to the teaching of Islamic subjects in the primary classroom.
  • Apply the scientific method, higher order critical thinking and problem-solving skills in teaching Islamic subjects.
  • Practice the work ethics and moral values in the teaching profession, taking into account the students’ different races, cultures, socio-economic and English and Malay language proficiency.
