Bachelor of Education (Teaching English as a Second Language) or B.Ed. (TESL) programme is for those who want a comprehensive teaching degree that will assist them in building successful careers in the education sector, and most importantly, for those with a passion for teaching. It is a fully online or blended learning programme offered by Asia e University, a leading university recognised by 33 member countries of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD). It is a programme accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) under the Ministry of Higher Education.

Normal Entry

  • STPM / 'A' Level  or equivalent qualifications with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in two (2) subjects; OR
  • STAM (Grade Jayyid); OR
  • UEC with at least Grade B in five (5) subjects; OR
  • A Matriculation / Foundation programme from any IPTA / IPTS / Institution authorised to offer foundation programme with at least CGPA 2.00; OR
  • A Diploma with at least CGPA 2.0; OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognised

English Language Competency Requirement (for International Students)

  • Minimum score for TOEFL PBT 410-433/ TOEFL IBT 34-40 OR Minimum score of 5.0 for IELTS OR Pearson Test of English PTE 36 OR Cambridge English: Advance (CAE) 160 OR Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) 180 OR Malaysian University English Test (MUET Band 3).
  • Any international student from countries using English as an official medium of instruction or from an academic institution using English as a medium of instruction, shall normally be exempted from the above requirement.

  • Minimum 21 years of age in the year of application
  • Possess relevant work experience
  • Passed an APEL assessment

Upon completion of the programme, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in teaching English Language as a second language.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and practcal skills in curriculum and instructional planning, assessment and using technologies and media for teaching and learning the English Language.
  • Exhibit good interpersonal and communication skills including both written and verbal abilities relevant to the English teaching in classroom.
  • Apply the scientific method, higher order critical thinking and problem-solving skills in teaching in English language.
  • Apply ethnics and moral values in teaching while taking into account the diversity of student's background and English language proficiency.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurship and management skills related to the English language.
  • Apply research skills towards improving the English language classroom practices.
  • Practice information seeking a lifelong learning skills.
