PhD (ICT)
The programme is specially designed to facilitate those who want to do research in the chosen ICT fields under the supervision of experts from around the world.
The programme is grounded in applied research methods and experiential learning and aims at giving the students IT competence on the highest level within one of the main areas in ICT.

With extensive research supervision and training, students will gain strong research foundation as well as the ability to perform independent research.

For Malaysian and International Students:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with the following conditions:
    • a Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields with first-class or CGPA of 3.67
    • Higher or its equivalent from an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme; undergo internal assessment; and any other requirements of the University.
    • Bachelor’s degree candidates who are registered for master’s degree programmes may apply to convert to the doctoral degree programmes subjected to the following conditions:
    • Within 1 year for full-time and within 2 years for part-time candidates;
    • Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at doctoral level through rigorous internal evaluation by the University; and approval of the Senate of the University

ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • All International students who intend to pursue a programme at Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s or Doctorate level are required to fulfil the academic entry requirements for the programme concerned as well as the English Language Competency Requirement as follows:
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper Based Test (TOEFL PBT) Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test (TOEFL IBT),
    • Cambridge English: Advance (CAE)],
    • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE), or
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE), or
    • Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
  • These students who meet the academic entry requirements will be provided with conditional offers initially to enable them to attend the English Language Preparatory Course for a period not exceeding 12 months.
  • Notwithstanding the above, any international student from countries using English as an official medium of instruction or from an academic institution using English as a medium of instruction, shall normally be exempted from the above requirement.
