The programme is specifically designed to prepare graduates with the ability to carry out scholarly applied research independently at the forefront of their specialised field in social and behavioural science, and become experts who facilitate and contribute to the advancement of new knowledge.
Graduates of this programme are able to independently conduct, manage, and lead advanced research which contributes to substantial, new and original knowledge, and/or professional practice in the field of SBS.



They are poised for upper-level positions whether in organisations, consulting or academia, and are expected to contribute towards improvement in their places of employment and to the nation.

For Malaysian and International Students:

  • Master’s degree (MQF Level 7) in related fields as accepted by the Senate of HEP,
  • Other equivalent qualifications with Master’s degree (MQF Level 7) as accepted by the Senate of HEP.

Notes:

  • There shall be no direct entry from Bachelor’s degree level to Doctoral degree level.
  • Candidates with Bachelor’s degree qualifications who are registered for Masters programmes, may apply to convert their candidacy to the Doctoral degree programmes within ONE (1) year after Master’s degree registration, subjected to:
    • Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at Doctoral degree level,
    • Rigorous internal evaluation by the HEP,
    • Get approval from the Senate of НЕР.

ELCR Band (International Students Only): Minimum score ofBand 2 for MUET OR its equivalent.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • All International students who intend to pursue a programme at Diploma, Bachelor, Master’s or Doctorate level are required to fulfil the academic entry requirements for the programme concerned as well as the English Language Competency Requirement as follows:
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language Paper Based Test (TOEFL PBT) Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test (TOEFL IBT),
    • Cambridge English: Advance (CAE)],
    • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE), or
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE), or
    • Malaysian University English Test (MUET)
  • These students who meet the academic entry requirements will be provided with conditional offers initially to enable them to attend the English Language Preparatory Course for a period not exceeding 12 months.
  • Notwithstanding the above, any international student from countries using English as an official medium of instruction or from an academic institution using English as a medium of instruction, shall normally be exempted from the above requirement.
