Visit of Dr Ismail Khalil, President and Founder @WAS
In conjunction with the 11th International Conference on Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services (iiWAS2009) the President and Founder of @WAS, Dr Ismail Khalil met with the President of AeU, Prof Dato’ Dr Ansary Ahmed on Monday, 12th October 2009 at the AeU Campus.
iiWAS is a leading international conference for researchers and industry practitioners to share their new ideas, original research results and practical development experiences from all information integration and web-based applications and services related areas, iiWAS2009 is endorsed by the International Organization for Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services (@WAS) and will be hosted by Asia e University from 14-16 December 2009, in Kuala Lumpur, in conjunction with the 7th International Conference on Advances in Mobile Computing And Multimedia (MoMM2009).
The AeU Organising Committee was also in attendance to brief Dr Ismail Khalil the latest preparations made for the conference. Dr Ismail Khalil was very pleased and impressed with the latest updates and mentioned that this coming conference would be the largest since its inception 11 years ago.
Dr Ismail Khalil is a Professor of computer science at the Institute of Telecooperation, Johanes Kepler University Linz, Austria since October 2002. He is the President of the international organization of Information Integration and Web-based Applications & Services @WAS (www.iiwas.org). He holds a PhD in computer engineering and received his habilitation degree in applied computer science on his work on agents interactions in ubiquitous environments in May 2008. He currently teaches, consults, and conducts research in Mobile Multimedia, Agent Technologies.
He is the editor of the handbook of research on Mobile Multimedia series, the book Mobile Mutimedia: Communication Engineering Perspective and the book Multimedia Transcoding in Mobile and Wireless Networks. Before joining Johanes Kepler University of Linz, he was a research fellow at the Intelligent Systems Group at Utrecht University, Netherlands from 2001-2002 and the project manager of AgenCom project at the Software Competence Center Hagenberg – Austria from 2000-2001.
Dr Khalil has authored more than 100 scientific publications, books, and book chapters. He serves as the editor-in-chief of the International Journal on Web Information Systems (IJWIS), Journal of Mobile Multimedia (JMM), International Journal of Mobile Computing and Multimedia Communications (IJMcMc), Advances in Next Generation Mobile Multimedia book series, and Atlantic Ambient and Pervasive Intelligence book series. He is on the editorial board of several international journals. He has given keynotes in conferences around the world as well as courses and seminars in summer schools. His work has been published and presented at various conferences and workshops.
